The council’s red route programme is part of a West Midlands-wide initiative to cut congestion and keep traffic moving on strategic routes.The council’s red route programme is part of a West Midlands-wide initiative to cut congestion and keep traffic moving on strategic routes. A number of future routes have been identified in Walsall. These schemes include: junction improvements; improvements to existing links; improved pedestrian and cycling facilities; revised carriageway markings; and improved road signs. Committed future schemes include A34(N) Bloxwich Road, A4148 Broadway and A454 Wolverhampton Road.
